How to Easily Download KCSE 2023 Exam Results Using the New Link
The 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates can conveniently access their results through the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) portal. A total of 899,453 candidates participated in the 2023 KCSE exams, with 450,554 being male and 448,899 female, representing 50.09% and 49.9% of the total candidature, respectively.
To access the KCSE 2023 results:
- Candidates should log in to the KNEC portal or website using https://results.knec.ac.ke.
- Enter their respective index numbers and names as per the 2023 registration data.
- After confirming the correctness of all details, click submit to access the results.
The results will be available immediately after release by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, as assured by KNEC. However, it’s worth noting that the results portal experienced temporary downtime after the announcement, leading to some users being unable to access the platform.
CS Machogu has provided reassurance that the ministry, in collaboration with engineers and experts, has ensured the system is operational, minimizing inconveniences experienced in the past. Results will also be dispatched to sub-county education officers for distribution to exam centers.
In previous years, the ministry utilized an SMS platform supported by mobile service providers to communicate results. However, the abolishment of the SMS system was announced by Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang last year, with a commitment to establishing a more effective system that is free of charge.
The 2023 KCSE introduced a new grading system, emphasizing only two mandatory subjects, Mathematics and one language (English, Kiswahili, or Kenyan Sign Language), for computing the mean grade. The new system also requires examiners to select five of the best-performed subjects from each candidate, departing from the previous 8-4-4 system that had five mandatory subjects across three cluster groups. This change aims to address perceived disadvantages in the previous system, ensuring a fair evaluation of each candidate’s performance.
