TSC update to Confirm 25,000 Intern Teachers P& P under New Govt Plan
Intern Teachers Confirmation, Over 25,000 teachers serving as intern will have see Teachers Service Commission (TSC) confirm them under junior and primary schools to permanent and pensionable terms.

This is according to the Chairman of Budget and Appropriations Committee, honourable Ndindi Nyoro,while speaking in Parliament yesterday during presentation of appropriations of the 2024 – 2025 government budget.
Intern Teachers Confirmation
The teachers who will be confirmed are only those who renewed their internship contract earlier this year.
This means as the confirmation will take place , priority will be given to those who were recruited in February 2023 currently serving in various schools
Intern graduate teachers with degrees will be placed in job group C2 as their counterparts (those with PTE certificates) will be placed to start in grade B5.
While issuing the the appropriations if the budget, money to confirm the teachers was factored in the 2024 – 2025 budget.
Ndindi Nyoro also signalled another allocation to employ another 20,000 intern teachers this year.
This declaration follows the recent announcement by TSC Chief Executive Dr. Nancy Macharia who said that said that TSC will start hiring of at least 20,000 new intern teachers to bridge staffing gaps in junior schools.
While addressing the media, Macharia had admitted that most junior secondary schools are grappling with severe teacher shortages.
According to Macharia , there Isa a deficit of 99,045 teachers against the current number of 56,928 teachers that were employed recently.
Currently, TSC announced 6000 slots open for deploying P1 teachers to junior school after it revealed that primary schools have a surplus of 18,194 teachers.
This is after the number of classes was reduced by two as the new curriculum rolled out.
Conclusion
Teachers working in primary holding degrees in secondary option with C+ in KCSE and C+ in two teaching subjects have until 18th March 2024 to apply for deployment.
Last year , TSC assured intern teachers to renew their contract for it will will confirm them to permanent terms.
